San Sebastian Carnival in Pictures

Every month there seems to be some sort of fiesta occurring. This March weekend was the official San Sebastian Carnival – or Inauteriak in Basque. For an entire weekend, the city was filled with music, singing and dancing.

San Sebastian Carnival has had a history of 200 years and each year the carrozas y disfrazas (floats and costumes) become even more elaborate. It’s definitely a great spectacle!

The carnival occurs in different townships around Spain, they all have varying themes, some prefer to have a more traditional parade. In San Sebastian, however, tradition is thrown to the wind as it’s all about the here and now. Bring on the party!

Carnival San Sebastian

Throughout rain and howling wind, these performers danced for three hours straight every day of the weekend festivities. It truly was an enjoyable and entertaining event. It gave a chance for the somewhat reserved Donostiarras to let their hair down and pull on a onesie – all in the name of CARNAVAL!

If you were there, or have a picture or two to share then get in touch.
